Legal - Planning Issues

Bird’s-eye view photography for planning appeals, land development and environmental issues is now a fast growing area of business for Aerial Close-up Ltd.

Aerial Close-up Ltd was recently retained by a national house builder to provide photographs to support a planning appeal. A previous application for a development of flats and houses on a brown-field site had been rejected due to local residents objections to the proposed height of the flats and their subsequent loss of privacy.

Following the refusal, the client felt certain that this issue would not stand up to appeal and sought a method of definitively establishing what could and could not be seen from the upper storeys of the proposed development.

The solution was to position the vehicle on the site at the precise location of each of each of the proposed buildings and raise the vehicle's telescopic mast to the exact height of the window openings of the first, second and third storeys to look out into the gardens of the surrounding properties. These elevated images clearly demonstrated exactly what could be seen of the neighbouring houses from the proposed development. The client subsequently won the appeal.
