Road Transport - Road Traffic Accidents

Aerial Close-up Ltd works closely with road transport operators, solicitors, insurance companies and the Police to provide low-level aerial photographs of road traffic accident sites. These aerial images can be taken days, weeks and even years after the event to record the road markings, layout and overall setting of the accident site from an elevated viewpoint.

This unique aerial photographic service can supply either still or video format from the telescopic mast. In a recent case, video footage was taken to show the road positioning of vehicles along a 100-yard stretch of road as they entered and exited a dangerous bend where a recent fatal accident had taken place. This aerial view was able demonstrate the road positioning of both private and commercial vehicles as they entered the blind bend between two high hedges. This view was impossible to capture from the ground.

The video camera was also extremely useful in a reconstruction of an accident which took place at a T-junction in a busy residential area. Again, the aerial video footage captured the long approach route of a car that subsequently collided with a commercial vehicle at the junction. The video of the reconstruction was used by the accident investigator and the insurance company to argue the validity of the claim.
